Our Mission

Maryland DDA is a provider agency dedicated to supporting individuals with developmental disabilities to live lives as diverse and enriching as anyone else in their communities.

We partner with each person to understand their strengths, preferences, culture, and dreams—and then design supports that promote choice, independence, safety, and meaningful relationships.

Our Commitment to Individuals & Families

We view individuals and families as experts in their own lives. Our role is to listen, offer options, and coordinate high-quality supports that reflect what matters most to the person.

We work closely with Coordinators of Community Services (CCS), clinicians, and other partners to ensure that services are well-coordinated, responsive, and aligned to the DDA-approved Person-Centered Plan.

Services We Provide

Maryland DDA offers supports that can be authorized through applicable DDA waivers and tailored to each individual’s plan, needs, and preferences.

Home & Daily Living

Personal Supports

Assistance with daily living activities in the home and community to help people remain as independent as possible.

  • Support with personal care and hygiene
  • Meal preparation and household tasks
  • Skill-building for daily routines
Community

Community Development & Engagement

Individual and small-group support to explore interests, build skills, and participate in community life.

  • Accessing community activities and events
  • Building relationships and natural supports
  • Developing social and communication skills
Respite

Respite Services

Short-term, temporary support to give families and caregivers planned relief while ensuring continuity of care.

  • In-home and community-based respite
  • Planned and occasional/emergency use
Housing

Supported Living

Person-centered supports for individuals living in their own homes or apartments with assistance matched to their needs.

  • Assistance with household management
  • Coordinating community resources
  • Promoting choice and tenancy rights
Employment

Employment & Day Supports

Support for individuals who want to explore employment, volunteer work, or other meaningful daytime activities.

  • Pre-employment and job readiness coaching
  • On-the-job support (where authorized)
  • Discovery of interests and strengths
Coordination

Service Coordination & Advocacy

Collaboration with the Person-Centered Planning team to help align supports with the individual’s goals and rights.

  • Active participation in planning meetings
  • Communication with CCS and providers
  • Ongoing review and feedback from individuals

Final services and eligibility are determined by the Maryland Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) and the individual’s approved Person-Centered Plan.

Individuals we serve have the right to make choices, be treated with respect, and participate in all decisions about their services and supports.

  • To be free from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and retaliation.
  • To receive information in a way the person can understand.

Input & Feedback on Services

Maryland DDA ensures that individuals and their chosen representatives have meaningful input in how services are planned, delivered, and reviewed.

  • Individuals help choose staff and schedule services where possible.
  • Regular check-ins to review what is working and what is not.
  • Clear ways to share concerns or file complaints without fear.
  • Opportunities to change services when goals or needs change.
  • Use of person-centered planning tools to capture preferences and goals.
